Yep. After a whole decade of rumors (mostly "Oh, it's progressing! More cars are being used to test it!" and "Oh no, it's dwindling!", with rumors saying that the Apple Car is 4 years away for almost this entire time and the latest rumors suggesting a $100,000 EV for 2028), the Apple Car project (codenamed Project Titan and originally led by Doug Field) has been canceled, according to Bloomberg. Of course, it's not Apple's nature to just announce rumors to everyone in the whole wide world (even something this important), so it was announced inside of Apple by current Project Titan leader Kevin Lynch and COO Jeff Williams. According to the report, the decision was agreed on by the executives with the most Apple experience inside Apple in the past few weeks, and the Apple Car project had gotten to a "make-or-break point" internally (compounded by shareholder pressure on Tim Cook to finalize the decision). You might be wondering where the 2K+ Project Titan employees went after the canceling of the project, and there actually is going to be some (we don't have the number yet) layoffs (but many workers will go to other parts of Apple like John Giannandrea's AI team). The project was originally expected to fruit a 100% autonomous EV without any instruments of manual control, but later these ambitions died and were replaced with less ambitious ones.
