I know. Isn't that a weird decision. Even if you will soon get a way to apply third-party BNPL loans when buying with Apple Pay (the first company to support this will be Affirm) and access (worldwide) third-party BNPL installments (the first companies to support this will be Monzo and HSBC in the UK, ANZ in Australia, Citi and Synchrony (plus BNPL companies with Fiserv) in the US, and CaixaBank in Spain). At least existing loans won't be removed! Oh, and as another addition to the blatant excuses, codes to scan apparently will help shoppers use Apple Pay in websites. Anyway, let's stop with the angriness and mourn the loss of our beloved Apple Pay Later.

Apple Pay Later was first announced as part of iOS 16 at WWDC22, but only released as part of iOS 16.4 in late March of last year (which means that it was a puny 15 months old when it died). It was a way to split a purchase $50-$1,000 in value into 4 payments over 6 weeks. It was available, according to Apple, "everywhere Apple Pay is accepted". Fees/interest? Zero. Zip. Nada.

WHY DID YOU REMOVE APPLE PAY LATER, APPLE??? IT WAS SO SUCCESSFUL!!! WITH AN APPLE TOUCH!!!! AND WITH NO FEES OR INTEREST!!!!! AND AFTER ONLY 15 MONTHS????????? WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DISCONTINUE NEXT? THE IPHONE????
