Pegasus and other types of spyware are really potent at taking every single piece of data on your phone: they use 0-click exploits, which take advantage of exploits in software to garner personal data without the user even doing anything except, for example, acting as the recipient of a spyware-containing email (that's why they're called "0-click" exploits). Pegasus spyware is even worse than others, because it's sold to governments who really shouldn't be using it (like India, which restrains free press under its current government, and the military dictatorship of Thailand). Now Apple just warned freedom-fighters across 98 countries that they're being targeted in a "mercenary spyware attack" (according to Apple, the company has "high confidence" that the warning is true). Lockdown Mode (see here for guidance on turning it on: https://support.apple.com/en-us/105120) is recommended for targeted people. You might think that a fix is coming within days now, but it takes time to fix vulnerabilities leading to zero-click exploits, so don't keep your hopes up too high. Also, it's a secret how Apple knows that these people are being targeted (otherwise, if the secret was public, people would just hack right through that code before they attacked!).
