Global smartphone shipments best in three years

Global smartphone shipments reached their highest point since 2021, according to Canalys, an analyst organization. To be exact, it's 309.9 million (+5% compared to Q3 2023) for Q3 2024 (calendar quarter; Apple's Q4 2024). Samsung is on top, but still, not by a lot (57.5 million vs. 54.5), and Apple's 54.5 million is a new record for the company. Xiaomi is much behind in third with 42.8 million, too. The reason for Apple's performance is because of Apple Intelligence hype (notice hype: during the holiday quarter, people will realize that Apple Intelligence just never will come entirely, and so less people will be crazy because of this, even while more Indian factories open).
