Google doesn't want you using Google Search in Safari

Apple has a lucrative (lucrative to the point of $20 billion paid in 2023) deal with Google to use its search engine in Safari (one of the only holes in its privacy protection cheese due to Google's personalized ads), but apparently, instead of people using Google from Safari, Google wants people to use it via Google's own apps (even though this type of thing has been linked to company emissions goals getting much harder to reach), according to Apple news source iMore. It wants to have half of all searches to use its own apps by 2030, even though that looks impossible via Google's current adoption rate (the rate would have to increase by 4x to reach that goal, given that adoption (even with lots of ad campaigns) has gone up by a measly average of 1% a year for the past 5 years to 30%).
