Time to update your iPhone, iPad and Vision Pro! iOS 17.4.1 (and its siblings iPadOS 17.4.1 and visionOS 1.1.1 (I forgot to tell you that visionOS 1.1 was one of the announcement siblings of iOS 17.4!)) is here! Well, this news actually came out 3 days ago, but still I have to report on it. If you're looking for any big surprises, well, as with any ._.1 update, it only has bug and security fixes. The release notes say: "This update provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users." Even 3 days later, we haven't gotten any details on exactly what these "bug fixes and security updates" are, even though details usually come mere hours post-release (you might think clicking on the link in the release notes will get you to details, but it still says "Details coming soon"), and this could be because a) Apple needs to finish an investigation into the security issues (Apple specifically says that it won't talk about security issues until not only updates to fix them are available but also when an investigation is completed about them) or the likelier b) abiding to that rule, it wants to make watchOS and macOS fixes available before talking about the security problems (as you might have noticed, the updates are only for iOS, iPadOS and visionOS), although fixes for macOS and watchOS might not have been needed if the nature of the still-under-wraps updates means only fixes for iOS, iPadOS and visionOS might be needed. It could even be a combination of the two. Anyway, time to go to Settings < General < Software Update and download the new updates if your device is eligible (along with the limitations to iPhones, iPads and Vision Pros, we also have the same limitations as with the original iOS/iPadOS 17 (XR/S and newer for iPhones, Air 3rd-gen , iPad 6th gen, mini 5th-gen, and iPad Pro 12.9" 2nd-gen and later, along with 11" and 10.5" iPad Pros for iPads)). Happy updating!
