You may have forgotten last year, when the iPhone 15 emerged with a USB-C port. The EU said at the time that all electronics sold there must have USB-C by the end of 2024, and at that time that seemed far away. Well, now, the year and three months in between have just flown by like magic, and now Apple is on the brink of not reaching its goal because of two mainstayers that still remain in the lineup: the iPhone 14 and the iPhone SE. Now, these very last holders of the old Lightning connector might be discontinued in the EU "by the end of this year", according to Cult of Mac. Onto the impact this will be to most customers, the iPhone SE is going to be updated as soon as March, so most sensible buyers won't mind its discontinuation, and this new iPhone SE will be even better than the iPhone 14, but this is still important; this marks the very last days of Lightning (at least for the EU).
