Right now, the current M2 Ultra is made up of two M2 Maxes "fused" together using a proprietary UltraFusion connector, but that might change, according to info grabbed straight from Apple, and the M3 Ultra might not get the connector (this might mean Apple is putting out a new and improved connector for the new chip, but it's more likely that Apple is just doing away with connectors entirely). After all, you don't quite get double the performance of the Max with the current system, and also Apple with the change will be able to adjust the cores to its own liking (in this case more of them, of course), even, according to the leak, by removing the efficiency cores and therefore bringing more raw performance (after all, the Ultra line has never appeared in a laptop to date, and desktop computers don't need efficiency cores because they are to reduce strain on the battery and desktops are powered from the wall and so don't have batteries). This might bring back the Extreme chip, which project has long been canceled before coming to fruition, and so bring a Mac Pro that's actually a good buy (remember when the Apple Silicon version was launched? We got a $3,000 premium over the Mac Studio released at the same time just for PCI Express Get 4 slots, extra ports and a different design). The Extreme might skip this generation, however.
