For some time now, Apple has been making iPhones in India as a way to get away from unstable China (a lesson learned the hard way from fall 2022's Foxconn disaster), and now those iPhones might be cheaper to make because of a new plan the Indian government is thinking over, which might support local manufacturing with ≥$2.7 billion in subsidies plus lower import tax for parts. This might make "Made in India" iPhones cheaper to make for Apple, which will accelerate Apple's efforts to make more iPhones in India (India plants started making iPhone 16's "within weeks of launch", and the iPhone 17 might have equal parts Chinese and Indian units). We'll see if February's Indian governmental budget includes this plan. Anyway, bye!
