Apple every year makes special watch faces, iPhone & iPad wallpapers and watch bands to celebrate Pride Month (in June), and Apple has now announced the 2024 collection of these!
First, the Braided Solo Loop (what I was talking about by "watch band" now has a Pride Edition for 2024 (according to Apple inspired by both new and old Pride flags) with a laser-etched ridge saying "Pride 2024". According to Apple, "The colors black and brown symbolize Black, Hispanic, and Latin communities, as well as those impacted by HIV/AIDS, while the pink, light blue, and white hues represent transgender and nonbinary individuals."
Second, the accompanying watch face and wallpapers are the first Pride watch faces and wallpapers to have customizable colors. On the watch faces, the time is spelled out via the colors of your choice and moves as your wrist does, and on the wallpapers, "pride" is spelled and moves when your iPhone/iPad is unlocked. According to Apple, "Beams of light glow against a dark background, and stack on top of each other to represent the everlasting impact of LGBTQ+
activism and its role in illuminating the path to greater equality for future generations."
Apple supports LGBTQ+ equality, saying that the new collection is here "as a way to champion global movements to protect and advance equality for LGBTQ+ communities". Apple has also said that "Through this Pride Collection, Apple is proud ot continue its support of LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations whose efforts are bringing about positive change, including ILGA World, a global federation committed to advancing the rights of LGBTQ+ people worldwide; and the Human Rights Campaigh, a global advocacy group working ot ensure all LGVTQ+ people are treated as full and equal citizens. Additional advocacy organizations Apple supports include Encircle, Equality North Carolina, Equality Texas, GLSEN, Equality Federation, the National Center for Transgender Equality, PFLAG, SMTAL, and The Trevor Project."
Even though these have just been announced, we still have to wait a bit. The wallpapers and watch faces are to come with iOS/iPadOS 17.5 and watchOS 10.5 (coming soon), and the bands are to come on May 22. Anyway, bye!
