Last September event had more hit than this year's, but one downside was Apple's "eco-friendly" leather replacement, FineWoven. To summarize, the idea was really great, but the product that resulted really bad. Even the smallest scratch would exist as a permanent wound, fading over time but still remaining after months at a time, and MagSafe fans would have a permanent circular mark on the case to show their fanship. Those who liked collecting dust from their travels would have the convenience of souvenir dust storage right in their pocket, and those who didn't like their color choice could have a washed-out color, maybe what they wanted. Simply put, if you could find these cheap on Amazon, no one would complain, but if you find these for $60 (the same price as the leather cases it replaced!) on Apple's website, nope. Even the cases on display at high-end Apple Stores got scratched like crazy after only days.
Now, the FineWoven case has been discontinued, so the waste of Apple and Amazon website space is now gone! No more unknowing buyers getting low-quality cases (they would probably think they got scammed if it was still there and they bought it)! FineWoven AirTag key rings and wallets were less-used and therefore less-scratched than the iPhone cases, and so are remaining on Apple's website. Speaking of cases, those wanting a new iPhone 16 can get Beats cases with Camera Control cutouts.
