The iMac just got the M4 chip, Apple Intelligence, new colors and keyboard/mouse/trackpad accessories in USB-C! This is one of three new Macs coming this week! The reason I phrased it this way is because these are the only upgrades. Anyway, if that's so, let's dive in to those upgrades!
So, first, the M4 chip is here, with all its benefits of 32GB unified memory, the ability to handle several 4K streams at once, 8K 120Hz external display support, and the ability to connect to two external displays. Next, Apple Intelligence is here too (and you don't have to wait for it: iOS 18.1 just arrived today too, including the first few Apple Intelligence features: Writing Tools, transcription summaries, Photos features, Siri design updates (while keeping track of multiple requests and more acception of mistakes in queries are some new functionality features, the bigger features aren't here yet), Notification Summaries, and Mail features). After that, the colors have changed just slightly for the paler (of course), and the the Magic Keyboard/Trackpad/Mouse all get USB-C (though the Magic Mouse somehow still has the port on the bottom, where you can't use and charge it at the same time; WHY??????). The best upgrade is, though, the fact that you don't have to have to pay $200 extra for the four-port version just because you like the yellow, orange or pink colors (speaking of the price, it's the same $1,299 for the two-port version as before). You can preorder the iMac now, and it will be available on the 8th. By the way, the 10-minute announcement video (like an Apple Event, but 10 minutes) can be seen here.
